The International Exchanges Office and the School of Modern Languages and Cultures offer native Spanish, Italian, French and German-speaking students the exciting opportunity to help teach modern languages in north Wales. Teaching placements are available in local high schools and at Bangor University. Please note that Italian positions are usually only available in Bangor University.
This programme is offered as a module and students can choose to teach for Semester 1 or 2 only (5 ECTS Credits) or for the full year (10 ECTS Credits). The experience and credits can therefore be taken as part of your study in Bangor, which you can transfer home.
Successful candidates will be allocated to work at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures in Bangor University or in a high school, which could be located anywhere in north Wales. Students will be expected to teach for four hours per week plus additional preparation time. Credits will be awarded on successful completion of the module, which includes submitting assignments. You will also be expected to promote international mobility, such as Erasmus+, to your students/pupils.
This is a wonderful opportunity if you are already considering a career in teaching, pedagogical research or if you would like to help internationalise local communities by sharing your language and culture with school children and undergraduates in north Wales.
In cooperation with GwE, the School Effectiveness and Improvement Service for North Wales, students accepted onto the programme will be given support and training. No previous teaching experience is necessary.
