Why is Bangor University a good choice for the course you are studying?

I believe that Bangor University was appropriate for me because I needed a January intake and there are very few universities in the UK that offer this, and Bangor was one of them. I love the infrastructure, especially the building that looks like a building from ‘Harry Potter’ - the Main Arts Building.

Tell us what you like about academic teaching quality at Bangor University?

The teaching quality here is very good, it was one of the reasons why I had selected Bangor University. I had also seen that the professors were associated with international world renowned bodies like the World Bank and IMF. The lectures were good and I really enjoyed them. Some of the professors were really funny, some were very interactive and everybody has a different method of teaching but one of the things that was distinguishing was that they always tried to interact with the students and there never was a monologue.

What is the social life like in Bangor? Are you involved in any societies or sports teams? How easy it is to make friends here?

There are many different opportunities provided by the Student's Union where you can meet new people. I was in Business Society and it was very easy to make friends because you get to meet people from different nationalities. I got to know about their culture, habits and way of life. Also, if you are staying in university accommodation then you have the chance to meet so many more new people.

Your experience of living in university accommodation OR private accommodation?

I stayed in university halls for the first year and my experience was very good. I stayed at the St Marys site and it is a very calm place to be, very serene, very quiet, and a lot of scenic beauty surrounding it, I really liked the accommodation. Cost of living is very, very cheap here to be honest as compared to other European countries and the US.

What do you think about Bangor and the surrounding area?

I was always in awe of the natural beauty here, while walking to the Management Centre for classes, I would get a view of the Snowdonia mountains, it's mesmerizing. One of the reasons I really enjoyed my stay at Bangor University was because I like all of the natural beauty here and it gives you peace and comfort.

Any experience with the free support services available to international students at Bangor University?

The International Education Centre is really helpful, I contacted them when I needed to get my National Insurance number and they helped me out a lot with it.

Experience of getting part-time jobs in Bangor? How easy is it to get one?

I got an internship for 3 months which was later extended to 8 months. I got this through a recruitment game which was organised by Bangor Business School and Santander Universities. I really appreciate the initiative that the Bangor Employability department took as far as internship was concerned.

How confident are you that Bangor university degree will help you in taking your career forward?

I received three offers to work in UK but I want to go back to India to work.

What is the highlight/best thing about being a student at Bangor?

The best part of coming to Bangor Univerity was the interaction we had with the teachers. It really felt worthwhile to be coming here and interacting with all those world-renowned teachers. They are so modest, they are pioneers in their fields and they were very humble, they used to calmly listen to our problems and give solutions and were always ready to accommodate and give us time. The academic experience has been very good.
