Why is Bangor University a good choice for the course you are studying?
I chose Bangor because it ranked highly in the university league tables. Also, I liked that the university is not set in a city with lots of crowded people, which is a nice change for me.
Tell us what you like about academic teaching quality at Bangor University?
I think the teaching quality is very good. All of the teachers are very helpful. They provide lots of resources for us to use.
Your experience of living in university accommodation OR private accommodation?
For my first year I lived in the university halls. I thought these were great for many reasons, firstly, you are guaranteed a place, which is brilliant. Then it is very easy to make friends here, everyone is welcoming. Even though you don’t get to choose your flat mates, luckily mine were great. For my second and third year I lived in the Neudd Willis privately owned studio apartments.
What do you think about Bangor and the surrounding area?
People who grow up in big cities can enjoy the countryside here. It is easy to make good relationships with the locals as well. I have done a lot of exploring of the local area, I have climbed Snowdon, visited Aber Falls and explored Colwyn Bay and a lighthouse on Anglesey.
Any experience with the free support services available to international students at Bangor University?
I had my visa done in Hong Kong and when I first arrived I went to one of the local banks with my friends to open up a bank account. However the psychology department were very good at providing information for me and also I had a peer guide to show me around which was very good.
