Why is Bangor University a good choice for the course you are studying?

I chose Bangor University to study for my course because I thought that Bangor would be the right place for me to study at and I was right. I found adjusting to the university lifestyle and moving to the UK very easy and I coped really well with such a big move away from home for a whole year. I really enjoy the atmosphere and environment of Bangor and it really helps when studying because it helps to keep me calm which in turn helps me cope with the course requirements. I believe I made a good choice here.

Tell us what you like about academic teaching quality at Bangor University?

I really enjoyed the lectures and tutorials as they were always very helpful and I made every effort to go to every one because I didn’t want to waste a lecture. Each lecture provides something new and relevant to the course, and the lecture staff and professors are very experienced and know what they are talking about so every little bit of information from them will hopefully help me to achieve a first in the degree. It is a high class course.

What is the social life like in Bangor? Are you involved in any societies or sports teams? How easy it is to make friends here?

The social life here is actually pretty good, I have made friends with a lot of other international students during my time here through the International Education Centre and that has been a great bonus to me. A lot of people from my country also came to Bangor University to study so I also have a large group of friends from home so I don’t ever feel homesick. It’s a very good social university and everyone here is so friendly and helpful, I have made friends with a lot of people and it has never been easier to make friends than when I’ve been here at Bangor.

Your experience of living in university accommodation OR private accommodation?

I live in Neuadd Willis one of the University accommodation buildings, I have found it to be very clean and comfortable to live in. Everyone else who stays here is also a postgraduate student and is therefore of the same level of understanding and very friendly. The prices for staying there are excellent and the distance from where I need to go for research and study, classes, lectures, and workshops is actually only 4/5 minutes up the road from the accommodation hall so the distance and location of the building is a huge positive.

What do you think about Bangor and the surrounding area?

Bangor is located in a really beautiful place, there are many places in which to relax and clear your head. The entire city is a really good place to study, there are university buildings and services like libraries etc in upper and lower Bangor so everything is quite close which makes it far easier to study. The city is uncrowded and never super busy too so that’s very good, it is a peaceful place, and in my opinion an excellent place to study. The environment here is perfect for studying in, so quiet and peaceful which really helps when revising I must say.

Any experience with the free support services available to international students at Bangor University?

I have not really had much to do with the free support, I managed to sort my bank account and visa and various other things before I came to Bangor.

How confident are you that Bangor university degree will help you in taking your career forward?

I know that my degree from Bangor will be a very good degree and I am very confident of getting a really decent and well respected job in my home country when I return. Due to the high quality and renowned status of the degree, it is very much sought after within Bahrain and has a huge stamp of approval within the financial market of the country. Therefore, I feel absolutely confident of getting a job after I go back home with the degree I received from Bangor University.

What is the highlight/best thing about being a student at Bangor?

I think the best thing about being a student at Bangor University is the fact that the area surrounding the city and within the city is very beautiful. I especially loved the pier which I visited quite a lot because it was close to my halls. The area is beautiful, the views from my halls across the valley to the mountains and the bay was very beautiful. I also went on trips organised by the University to Snowdonia and I also went up Snowdon Mountain, which was amazing and the views were truly beautiful.

Describe Bangor in three words:
