Why is Bangor University a good choice for the course you are studying?

The suggestion to study in Bangor University came from one of my teachers in my high school as he previously studied in Bangor University. After discussing with him about my choice of studying Marine Biology; he had mentioned that North Wales is a great location and perfectly situated next to the ocean. I visited the open day which was great and it helped to inform me about all the activities that were occurring.

Tell us what you like about academic teaching quality at Bangor University?

The lectures are very diverse and have a huge range of assessments which are very engaging. The modules in my course are great with topics relating to what I want to do after I graduate. My personal tutor has been great with helping me complete my work and all of my lecturers have been very welcoming with all the lectures and questions about anything that I am unsure about.

What is the social life like in Bangor? Are you involved in any societies or sports teams? How easy it is to make friends here?

The social life in Bangor is great. Currently I am a part of the Cricket Sports Team where I am the social secretary, I am also part of the Indian Society where I am serving as a Vice Chairman. Everyone around here is friendly and sociable.

Your experience of living in university accommodation OR private accommodation?

I currently live in a private accommodation and the distance from my campus is a mere 10 minutes’ walk away.

What do you think about Bangor and the surrounding area?

Living in Bangor means living in a place of picturesque beauty. The greenery, the pier, beach and the mountains become a part of your daily life. There are many places to travel around Bangor as everything is either a car ride away or a train ride away.

Any experience with the free support services available to international students at Bangor University?

The university has been very supportive in so many ways that Bangor seems like home to me. The International Education Centre supported me with my visa support and settling in and getting acquainted with Bangor.

Experience of getting part-time jobs in Bangor? How easy is it to get one?

There are many local jobs in Bangor where students can work part time. Currently I am working in a nightclub called Peep where I am a ticket representative and this job has helped me to get a decent amount of money.

How confident are you that Bangor university degree will help you in taking your career forward?

I am very confident that my Bangor University degree will help me with my future career. This coming summer I am going to Sri Lanka for my 2 week long internship which will also help me in my future career!

What is the highlight/best thing about being a student at Bangor?

Travelling with friends is the activity that I enjoy the most. Another highlight is making amazing friends in my time in Bangor and I’ll dearly miss them when I leave. The social life/night life are like the icing on the cake.
