International Cultures and English Course

These classes are particularly suitable for partners of overseas students and complete beginners are welcome. Classes take place on three mornings a week and are free of charge. All necessary learning materials are provided and it is possible for parents to bring their children with them.
Classes are small and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. It is an excellent opportunity to get to know other people who are also learning to speak English.
The classes cover all four major skills:

  • reading
  • writing
  • listening
  • speaking

Classes take place on Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursdays and there are three levels:; beginners (level 1), intermediate (level 2) and upper intermediate (level 3).
There are three hours of classes for each group, beginning as follows:

Beginners Monday 9:30am to 1:00pm Rathbone Dining Hall, Neuadd Rathbone, College Road, Bangor
Intermediate Wednesday 9:30am to 1:00pm Rathbone Dining Hall, Neuadd Rathbone, College Road, Bangor
Upper Intermediate Thursday 9:30am to 1:00pm Rathbone Dining Hall, Neuadd Rathbone, College Road, Bangor

The dates for the ICE classes for 2019/20 are:

  • TERM 1: 23rd September 2019 - 13th December 2019 (12 weeks)
  • TERM 2: 6th January 2020 - 3rd April 2020 (13 weeks)
  • TERM 3: 27th April 2020 - 29th May 2020 (5 weeks)

The aim of the course is to help students and their families integrate into life in Bangor, Wales and the UK.  We aim to create (with your help) a space where international students and their families can meet each other, learn and share language skills and cultural experiences. Pre-school age children and babies (and school-age children during school holidays) are welcome to come along with you.  There will usually be Student Volunteers in class to look after the children.  Games and toys are provided to keep them amused while you learn!

To register for the classes students should just go along to Rathbone Dining Hall, Neuadd Rathbone, College Road, Bangor on the day and time of class.
