Overall aims and purpose

Optimum nutrition is essential for the development and maintenance of physical health and wellbeing. This module will cover eating well, optimum healthy diets, and the links between diet and disease outcomes such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. The importance of hydration and limited alcohol intake will also be discussed. Key screening tools for nutrition and evidence based methods for asssessing nutritional status will be explored. This module will be based on the theory and evidence behind a balanced diet and the links between nutrition, health and disease. It will also provide an applied and practical element to allow practical advice and nutritional strategies to be impletmented in the workplace.

Course content
