LLB English Law & French Law / Masters I (Droit International, Européen et Comparé)

This exciting four year programme, involving study in France and the UK, leads to the award of two law degrees:

  1. An LLB Qualifying Law Degree (recognised by both the Bar and Law Society of England and Wales, and also recognised in France as a Masters I degree)
  2. A Masters 1 Droit international, européen et comparé (European and Comparative Law)

It is open to students who complete two years at Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, followed by two years at Bangor University.

Students will be educated in the fundamentals of law and in the major Law subjects in the United Kingdom, France, Europe, and the wider international community. You will acquire an in-depth, contextualised understanding of the major substantive areas of law, and will develop the ability to compare and contrast aspects of English, Welsh and French law with those of other countries. You will be equipped to understand both Common Law and Civil Law principles, so whether you subsequently choose to practice as a lawyer or undertake further study, you will be very familiar with the subtleties of both Common and Civil Law. You will learn to interpret legal rules and employ legal reasoning in techniques used in both the Common and Civil Law systems in order to offer solutions and conclusions to actual or hypothetical complex legal problems.

Upon completion, students will have acquired sufficient expertise in the laws of England, Wales and France to progress to further studies in their chosen discipline and/or a professional training qualification.

This LLB is a Qualifying Law Degree, which means that it is recognised for professional purposes by the Law Society and Bar Council of England and Wales, and the Law Society of Ireland. In France, the Masters 1 is also recognised for professional purposes. Graduates will be eligible to proceed directly onto vocational training courses in these countries to become solicitors or barristers.

Years 1 and 2: tuition fees will be paid directly to Université Toulouse 1 Capitole. Please visit the website for up-to-date fee information.
