Academic Support
Support for Students
The Academic Support Team are information experts whose primary role is to help you get the most out of the information and resources available. If you are looking to source information for an essay, dissertation or other academic work, or just need some help using the library catalogue or resources, your Academic Support Librarian is on hand for guidance and tips. We offer a drop in service, or you can contact us to pre-arrange one-to-one appointments.
Support for Staff
If you are a member of academic staff, we can work with you to offer bespoke sessions which can be embedded in to your modules. These sessions can cover topics such as how to access the right sources of information, how to find and use good quality references, how to appraise the evidence as well as managing references and using reference management software.
How we can help:
-
Library Inductions – At the start of each academic year, we offer new students a brief presentation and introductory tour of the library. To book an induction for your School or an individual one-to-one session, please contact us.
-
Information Skills Workshops – We can provide sessions and workshops tailored to the needs of students. The team are happy to meet with academic staff to discuss your needs and develop sessions to be delivered either by a member of the team or collaboratively. Sessions can cover a variety of topics, delivered by means of group presentations or practical computer based workshops.
