The University has signed up to the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) licence that permits the digitisation of print copies of journal articles and book chapters published in the UK (with some exceptions).[More]
To take advantage of this service, please add the request to your reading list in Talis.
Due to the CLA's requirements, forms must be completed in full before processing can take place.
The library will endeavour to seek permission directly from the publisher if more that one chapter is require from a book or more than one article is requested from any journal issue.
Please note it can take up to 4 weeks for a digitisation request to be completed.
Although the licence allows copying for education there are some works excluded from all CLA licences and these may not be copied in any form. Each title should be checked to ensure it is covered for the purpose (digital, photocopying, and scanning). The CLA have an online checker and also a downloadable mobile app.
When digitising or scanning materials for use in course content, details must be recorded and submitted annually to the CLA (this is a legal requirement).
Please hand in completed forms at the counter of your nearest library branch or send to your Academic Support Librarian who can also answer any further enquiries you may have.
