Research off-campus made simple
Bangor University Library has access to Lean Library, a browser plug-in that allows you to access our library e-resources whilst browsing the web, including e-books!
If you reach a paywall for an article or eBook, Lean Library will look for an alternative, legal option for access.
How Lean Library Works
Once the extension is installed, whenever you come across an e-resource outside of the library’s catalogue, Lean Library will provide you with an access pop up notification like below:
By clicking on this notification, you will be redirected to the University Login Service page where you will need to use your University username and password to log in, unless you have already logged in elsewhere on the Bangor University website.
Other Benefits include:
Finding alternative licensed articles and e-books when you hit paywalls
Provide you with extra instructions for cumbersome search engines, such as Google Scholar and PubMed
Select text from a webpage and right click 'Bangor Library Search' to be taken to the Library Search results
ToC Alerts: Subscribe to Google Scholar to receive updates from a particular journal of interest.
How to install Lean Library
The browser extension requires a ‘once only’ installation process of two mouse clicks on your laptop or PC.
To install Library Access please visit the Lean Library website:
Simply install the extension and select ‘Bangor University’ and it will pop-up and notify you when you are on a website that the Library has a subscription for.
It is advised you read the help guide provided once you have downloaded the extension to get extra hints and tips!
