A browser extension to speed up your research process
In order to help streamline the research process online, we’re introducing LibKey Nomad – A free browser extension that allows you to access our library articles whilst browsing the web!
Once the extension is installed, whenever you come across a journal article outside of the library catalogue, LibKey Nomad will inform you if the article is available through our library's subscriptions, or if there is an open access copy available through a banner alert at the bottom of the page, like below:
Simply click on the icon displayed to access!
LibKey Nomad access options are also available on search results pages (e.g PubMed, Web of Science) and websites (e.g. scholarly journals, Wikipedia).
Please note: If you are off-campus, you will be taken to the Bangor University login page to authenticate. LibKey Nomad does NOT store your credentials.
How to Install LibKey Nomad
LibKey Nomad supports Google Chrome version 76.x and newer. It requires a ‘once only’ installation process.
1. Click on the Add to Chrome button, and then Add extension button.
2. LibKey Nomad will ask you to Select Institution’. Type Bangor, and then select Bangor University.
3. Set up complete. You can now start using the extension!
Please Note: LibKey Nomad should also work in other browsers that are based on Chrome and allow extensions from the Chrome web store, for example the latest version of Microsoft Edge and Brave browsers. For Edge you may be prompted to allow extensions from other stores - please ensure you understand the implications of this choice, as we cannot provide any official support for Nomad on these browsers.
