Dr Mike Beckett hosts meeting of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry
Dr Mike Beckett, Head of the School of Chemistry, recently hosted the divisional committee meeting of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
The visitors (pictured) attended from the UK, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Russia, USA, South Africa and New Zealand. The aim of the group is to oversee scientific collaborations to help the global advancement of the chemical sciences. The group meet annually and the previous meeting of was held in Istanbul (Turkey), and the next year they will be meeting in Busan (Korea).
This team of experts defines internationally accepted systems and methods for the naming of chemicals.
