In this workshop we explore the purpose of literature reviews, consider how to shape an authoritative stance towards the literature and how to organise your review to maximum effect. You will have an opportunity to:

  • consider your own approach to planning your review and respond to questions related to one particular model
  • discuss in pairs and groups the characteristics of literature reviews
  • start the process of considering how to organise your sources, using a critique grid
  • consider various active reading techniques to help the reading process
  • look at sample literature reviews to draw conclusions about core characteristics related to structure, language and assessing contribution
