UK withdrawal from the EU

Horizon 2020

The UK's status as a full participating member of the Horizon 2020 programme has not changed with the UK withdrawal from the EU.

During the transition period until 31 December 2020, UK-based researchers can continue to participate fully in all parts of H2020 as if the UK is an EU member state. This applies to all calls until 31 December 2020 and for the whole duration of on-going or new successful projects.

ERC and Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions

Both programmes are part of H2020 and are therefore open to UK researchers and organisations for the remaining H2020 calls.

WEFO - European Regional Development Fund & European Social Fund

The status of large parts of Wales, including Gwynedd and Anglesey, as qualifying areas for regional development Structural Funds under the current West Wales and the Valleys Programme has not changed as a result of the UK legally leaving the EU for the duration of the transition period until 31 December 2020.

`This applies to all calls until 31 December 2020 and for the whole duration of on-going or new successful projects.

European Maritime and Fisheries Fund
European Territorial Cooperation
  • Interreg - Ireland Wales Co-operation
  • Atlantic Area
  • Northwest Europe

All of these funds are accessible to UK researchers in the same way as ERDF and ESF funding.

Life Programme

The UK's status as a full participating member of the Life programme has not changed with the UK withdrawal from the EU.

During the transition period until 31 December 2020, UK-based researchers can continue to participate fully in all parts of the Life programme as if the UK is an EU member state. This applies to all calls until 31 December 2020 and for the whole duration of on-going or new successful projects.

Creative Europe Programme

The UK's status as a full participating member of the Creative Europe Programme has not changed with the UK withdrawal from the EU.

During the transition period until 31 December 2020, UK-based researchers can continue to participate fully in all parts of the Creative Europe Programme as if the UK is an EU member state. This applies to all calls until 31 December 2020 and for the whole duration of on-going or new successful projects.

Erasmus+ Programme

The UK's status as a full participating member of the ERASMUS+ Programme has not changed with the UK withdrawal from the EU.

During the transition period until 31 December 2020, UK-based researchers can continue to participate fully in all parts of the ERASMUS+ Programme as if the UK is an EU member state. This applies to all calls until 31 December 2020 and for the whole duration of on-going or new successful projects.

All other EU funding programmes: including Health Programme, etc.

The UK's status as a full participating member of the EU has not changed with the UK withdrawal from the EU.

During the transition period until 31 December 2020, UK-based researchers can continue to participate fully in all EU programmes as if the UK is an EU member state. This applies to all calls until 31 December 2020 and for the whole duration of on-going or new successful projects.
