Profiles & Case Studies
Through its partnership with Bangor University, Santander Universities provides valuable support for a range of student entrepreneurship and enterprise activities.
This support includes:
- Scholarships and Mobility Awards for students to travel overseas for study or research purposes
- Entrepreneurship Scholarships to recognise and reward those students who excel in the annual Santander Entrepreneurship event.

Ned Hartfiel
PhD graduate, Ned Hartfiel, received a £500 Santander Universities Enterprise Mobility Award to enable him travel to key meetings to brief health officials on his innovative ‘Healthy Back Programme’. Health economist Dr Hartfiel is hoping to reduce back pain and sickness absences in the UK through the programme, which is being rolled out by his recently established company. Kate Isherwood
Kate Isherwood, from Preston, received a £500 Santander Universities Enterprise Mobility Award to travel to a cross-cultural program in Mexico. Rhi Willmot, from Kent, received a £500 Santander Universities Enterprise Mobility Award to travel to Mexico to take part in ELOP, a cross-cultural enterprise program. Maisie Prior, who is studying Spanish with International Experience, received a £500 Santander Enterprise Mobility Award to fund a marketing course to further her skills and help her grow her business. Tim Peters
Tim was awarded a Santander Universities Enterprise Mobility Award and received support for his business from the mentoring scheme offered through B-Enterprising at the University. Tim Peters is producing small scale cider from apples collected locally from gardens and small farms. The business, Dwynwen Cider, is named after local legend Santes Dwynwen, the Welsh saint of lovers. Read on...
