Trosolwg

Mae Cynog Prys yn ddarlithydd cymdeithaseg a pholisi cymdeithasol ym Mhrifysgol Bangor, ble mae’n arbenigo mewn addysgu cymdeithaseg drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg. Ar hyn o bryd mae’n addysgu modiwlau dulliau ymchwil, theori gymdeithasegol a chynllunio ieithyddol.

Enillodd Cynog radd dosbarth cyntaf mewn Cymdeithaseg a Pholisi Cymdeithasol o Brifysgol Bangor, cyn derbyn ysgoloriaeth Evan E. Davis i ddilyn cwrs MA ym Mhrifysgol Rio Grande Ohio, yn yr UDA. Ar ôl dychwelyd i Gymru fe gwblhaodd PhD ym maes cynllunio ieithyddol ym Mhrifysgol Cymru, Bangor.

Ei brif faes ymchwil yw astudio’r defnydd o Gymraeg yn y gymdeithas sifil, gyda'i ymchwil diweddaraf yn canolbwyntio ar y defnydd cymunedol o Gymraeg. Mae ei gyhoeddiadau diweddaraf yn ffocysu ar ddwyieithrwydd, cynllunio ieithyddol yn y trydydd sector a’r defnydd o Gymraeg ar wefannau rhwydweithio cymdeithasol.

Mae gan Cynog record o weithio’n llwyddiannus gyda phartneriaid allanol i’r Brifysgol, ac wedi cwblhau prosiectau ymchwil gyda Llywodraeth Cymru, S4C, BBC Cymru, Comisiynydd y Gymraeg, Mentrau Iaith Cymru, Cyngor Gweithredu Gwirfoddol Cymru a sefydliadau eraill. 

Ar hyn o bryd mae gan Cynog ddau fyfyriwr PhD sydd wedi eu hariannu o gronfa ymchwil KESS. Mae ei fyfyrwyr yn astudio’r modd y mae’r Gymraeg yn cael ei ddefnyddio ar blatfformau digidol cyfoes. Yn ogystal â hynny mae Cynog yn goruchwylio traethodau hir myfyrwyr ar radd MA Polisi a Chynllunio Ieithyddol.

Mae Cynog hefyd yn angerddol dros ddatblygu cymdeithaseg yng Nghymru, ac yn enwedig drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg. Mae ei brosiect diweddaraf (wedi ei gyllido gan y Coleg Cymraeg) yn datblygu e-lyfrau  amlgyfrwng cymdeithaseg sydd yn pontio Lefel A Cymdeithaseg a’r flwyddyn gyntaf yn y brifysgol.

Mae Cynog yn cyfrannu yn gyson i’r cyfryngau (radio a theledu) ar faterion yn ymwneud a chymdeithaseg a chynllunio ieithyddol.
