Information for Visitors

The University defines a visitor as:

“Anyone who is not a contracted employee or a registered student of Bangor University.” 

All visitors to SSHES are required and expected to abide by the University's Health and Safety rules and security controls. 

Safety Induction

To ensure that visitors are not put at risk the staff within the School should ensure that visitors have all the relevant health and safety information appropriate to their visit (eg fire evacuation procedures) and do not have unauthorised access to areas where they may be placed at risk.

It is important that visitors understand all the information provided at the Safety Induction and ask for help / clarification from their host if necessary.

Reporting an Accident or Concern

All accidents and incidents that occur on School premises must be reported to the Chief Technician/Safety Co-ordinator, Kevin Williams. For all events, even if it is a near miss where damage or an injury could have occurred, an Accident and Incident Form must be completed with a copy sent to both the Chief Technician/Safety Co-ordinator ( who will forward to Health and Safety Services.

If you have a concern or an accident or incident needs to be dealt with immediately, please call the Chief Technician/Safety Co-ordinator, Kevin Williams or one of the School’s First Aiders. If they are unavailable please contact Health and Safety Services on Tel Ext 3847 from an internal phone (available in all labs) or 01248 383847(from a mobile phone.

Any concerns which you would like investigated can be emailed to Health and Safety Services,

University Security can also assist in emergencies, so if you find yourself in a situation where you feel unsure what action to take as there is no one available to ask, contact Security on 333 immediately. They can then liaise with the Emergency Services, provide support, in addition to having emergency contact details for key members of staff.
