Bangor University hosts first ever PSA Women’s Squash event

Bangor University’s Sport Centre, Canolfan Brailsford, welcomes its first ever professional women’s squash event this week, with five days of intense action kicking-off on Wednesday 20 June and culminating in the $5000 final on Sunday.

Regulars from the PSA World Tour, including home-grown Welsh players, make up the draw and the event has received entries from all over the world, with some making the trip from as far afield as South America.

Richard Bennett, Bangor University Director Commercial Services, is looking forward to welcoming the event to Bangor. He said:

“We are delighted to welcome the PSA Karakal competition event to Bangor University. We are committed to promoting women in sport and supporting our local Welsh athletes. The University offers scholarships to help athletes combine their academic studies with athletic participation and this event is an excellent way of showcasing the facilities and support we can offer to elite athletes.”

This inaugural tournament is being promoted by Tesni Evans, current Welsh number 1, Commonwealth Bronze Medalist and Local Athlete bursary recipient and is being sponsored by Karakal, Haystack Dryers, Bangor University and private sponsors.

Tickets are £5 for children and £10 for adults, with week passes available at a discounted rate. To buy tickets or for further information about scholarships contact Canolfan Brailsford on 01248 382 571 or by emailing brailsford@bangor.ac.uk
