Four North Wales schools complete the Modern Foreign Language Student Mentoring Scheme

Bangor University School of Modern Languages and Cultures held on 26th May an award and recognition ceremony for the four local schools in North Wales that benefited from a new Welsh Government initiative to encourage modern language learning.

Bangor Science without Borders student presents research at prestigious Oxbridge conference

Emily Ane Araujo Santana is a Science without borders student and she has recently presented her research at the 5TH Oxbridge Conference on Brazilian Studies, which is a joint venture by Oxford and Cambridge universities. Emily beat off stiff competition from other students to be awarded the opportunity to present her research that is focused on sexually transmitted diseases in Brazil.

Megan wins the Learners’ Medal in the Urdd National Eisteddfod

Congratulations to Megan Elias, a second year student in the School of Welsh, who yesterday won the Welsh Learners’ Medal in the Urdd National Eisteddfod held in Flint.

The competition aims to award an individual who is committed to learning Welsh and is proud of his or her Welsh identity. The Learners' Medal is awarded to an individual who shows how he or she uses the language on a daily basis at school, college or university and also in a social context.
