Business Skills with the Chief Executive of the Scottish Professional Football League

Neil Doncaster, Chief Executive of the Scottish Professional Football League, gave undergraduate students an invaluable insight into the commercial world during a recent visit to Bangor.

As well as contributing to teaching on the ‘Management: Planning and Control’ and ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ modules, Mr Doncaster ran a ‘Skills for Business’ session. This innovative workshop introduced a variety of business skills, such as interview and presentation techniques, CV writing skills and practical suggestions on how to make one’s self really stand out from the crowd in a business environment. With a wealth of experience in liaising with the media and organisations in key sectors, Mr Doncaster’s workshop was well-received by the participating students, who all felt that the skills introduced would serve them well in their future careers.

In recent years, Mr Doncaster has also been involved with the Year 2 ‘Professional Sports Management’ module, leading a two-day study visit to Norwich City FC.
