Students attend Ffresh Film Festival

Last week SCSM students attended Ffresh Film Festival in Newport, where their documentary "Luck" was 1 of 5 shortlisted (in the factual catergory) from projects submitted from across the UK. Master classes were given by filmmakers including Mike Leigh and Asif Kapadia (BAFTA winner, best documentary for 'Senna')

Filmmaker John Evans said "I know it is a cliché but it was an honour to be nominated that afforded me an invaluable opportunity I will never forget. Simply to go and experience my first film festival has been an education itself.
To watch and appreciate others work and meet fellow filmmakers is something that can not be underestimated in the development of any filmmaker. A truly eye opening and inspiring experience."

Filmmaker Matthew Owen "It was a fantastic experience to be recognised by peers and nominated. Festivals such as Ffresh not only provide filmmakers, especially student filmmakers, with much needed confidence and inspiration
but also make them feel a part of the film community. I guess you always remember your first festival and I certainly will always have fond memories."

Documentary production lecturer Joanna Wright "This was an ambitious and creative project, "Luck" was in competition against films from across Wales and the UK. Our students demonstrated what can be achieved on limited resources with a lot of talent, dedication and imagination."
