A welcome from the Students' Union
Undeb Bangor Your Students’ Union
We are Undeb Bangor. We are Bangor University’s students’ union. ‘Undeb’ means union in Welsh; we call ourselves Undeb Bangor as we are very proud of our welsh roots.
This will be a September like no other, and we’re sure you’re feeling both anxious and excited about what’s in store. Starting at Bangor University is life-changing, and this year will be no different.
The welcome period is about bringing people together, fostering friendships, introducing you to all the wonderful things Bangor has to offer and helping you settle in. All of this is possible in a safe and responsible way.
Our events during Welcome 2020 are focused on getting you settled and ensuring you are able to meet people and understand how you can get involved with Undeb Bangor during your time here. We are the home of Bangor students and we work to amplify your voice, set up opportunities and develop your community. A team of Sabbatical Officers leads Undeb Bangor; this year’s team were elected in March 2020 and they are Henry Williams – President, James Avison – Vice-President Education, Iwan Evans – UMCB President and Katie Tew – Vice-President Societies and Volunteering. The Sabbatical Officer team are elected by students, in a cross-campus ballot, to ensure that students are represented in every aspect of University life, including academia, and to ensure you can take part in sports, societies and volunteering. Over the next year in office, the officer team are dedicated to the education and well-being of all students at Bangor.
As the home of Bangor students, we run the Sports Clubs, Societies, Volunteering Projects, UMCB (Welsh Union), Undeb Bangor Course Reps and Undeb Bangor Council. Joining a society, volunteering project or sports club is a great opportunity to find a new hobby and to meet likeminded individuals. It is also a great way to have a break from your university work and to ensure a good balance, which can help reduce stress.
Our website www.UndebBangor.com contains all the information about our student groups and activities and will include all the information you’ll need to know for the Welcome 2020 period and it’ll give you a taste for what you can expect from us throughout the year. Are you on social media? Why not follow us on our social media platforms and you’ll get to know about all the great things we do year-round.
