Amcanion cyffredinol

  1. To introduce students to concepts of the re-use of tradition through the study of adaptation and recreation of literary texts, historical events or historical figures in Spanish and Italian cinema.
  2. To familiarise students with various genres within Spanish, Catalan and Italian cinema.
  3. To introduce students to the socio-historical and ideological fabric of contemporary Spain and Italy.
  4. To foster the students' understanding of the relevance of film as a cultural medium.
  5. To foster analytical and comparative skills.

Cynnwys cwrs

During this course you will be introduced to issues relating to the re-use of tradition through the study of adaptations and/or recreations of literary texts, historical events or historical figures in Spanish and Italian cinema. You will thus become familiar with the socio-historical and ideological concerns that characterise contemporary Spain and Italy and you will reflect on the importance of film as a cultural medium.
