Wales DTP Capabilities and Careers Conference 2022
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Wales DTP's annual Capabilities and Careers Conference, held on 27th-28th April. The event, which focussed on Methods for Critical Social Science, included lively engagement from academics and doctoral students on topics including race, gender and sexuality, disability, child health and educational inequality. An EDI townhall session, led by DTP students Melissa Martin (Science & Technology Studies, Cardiff University) and Ferrida Ponce (Psychology, Bangor University), gathered insightful feedback which will feed into the DTP's future work on EDI.
Academic Publishing and Open Access
The Wales DTP is offering an online training session on academic publishing and open access, on 8 June. During the session, participants will hear from Dr Charalampos Efstathopoulos (journal editor), Joey Soehardjojo (former ESRC Wales DTP Postdoctoral Fellow), Dr Lizzie Brophy (Publisher, WILEY), and Helen Sharp (Publications Officer, Cardiff University) about writing an article and how to get published, including finding a journal, the peer review process, and up-to-date information about Open Access. There will also be an opportunity to put questions to the expert panel. The event is free of charge and is open to all ESRC Wales DTP students. For further information and registration, visit the Wales DTP website.
Wales DTP Small Grants
Twice a year we welcome applications from ESRC Wales DTP funded students and their supervisors for funding of up to £1,000 per application under our Small Grants Scheme. These grants can be used to support activities such as knowledge exchange, public engagement, hosting interdisciplinary events or cohort building events within a DTP pathway or cluster of pathways. The next deadline for applications is noon on 1 July. Further information and an application form can be found on the Wales DTP website.
