Specialist courses are also available for students needing to improve their English skills before starting on an academic course – there is a charge for these courses and they can be between 1 month and 18 months in duration – depending on the student’s English level.
Before arriving in the UK, students do not realise how much support they might need. At Bangor, we have a team of staff to take care of students, helping them to arrange essential things such as registering with a doctor, registering with the police, renewing the UK student visa, opening a bank account etc. If students have problems with the course, their fees, the place where they live or any other matter the team is there to help.
The team also organises ‘fun’ and social events – trips to London, Manchester, Liverpool, York and events and competitions at Bangor.

New Bachelor and Masters students starting their courses in September are guaranteed a place to live in University accommodation (subject to conditions). Students arriving at other times of the year will also be able to apply for a room in our student accommodation. Rooms have free wi-fi and include a bed, desk, wardrobe, shelves and a private en-suite bathroom and are in appartments of 8 rooms with one large shared kitchen. All accommodation is in a convenient location between 10 and 20 minutes walk from the University lectures and also the city centre. We have single-sex corridors for men and women who prefer this arrangement.
