Entry onto undergraduate courses, postgraduate taught courses and postgraduate research course requires the following English Language minimum scores:
- An overall score of IELTS 6.0 with no individual score lower than 5.5
- TOEFL 560 with a TWE (written score) of 4
- Computer Based TOEFL 220
- Some undergraduate and postgraduate programmes may require higher scores.
- The minimum requirement for IBT (Internet-based TOEFL) is 80 with no element below 16
To study certain subjects at the University however, we do ask for a higher IELTS score (or equivalent).

Students who have undertaken 2 years of education entirely through the medium of English directly prior to entry to Bangor University, will not be required to submit an English Language test certificate.

Students who have not achieved the above scores can apply to undertake English Language courses at the University's English Language Centre in order to achieve these levels, prior to the beginning of the academic programme.

Need to sit an IELTS test?
Students who have no evidence of English Language or have an IELTS of 4.5 or less will be required to attend the General English Course at the University's English Language Centre.
