From Socrates to Slumdog Millionaire - 125 years of change in Bangor University is the fascinating title of a public lecture being presented by Dr David Roberts, author of a recently published account of the University's history, Bangor University 1882-2009 and Bangor University's Registrar.
The Lecture, which is free and open to all, is organised by the University of Wales Guild of Graduates.

Victor Rodriguez Núñez is one of Cuba's most noteworthy contemporary writers. He has published eleven books of poetry, many of them recipients of literary awards, including the David Prize (Cuba, 1980), the Plural Prize (Mexico, 1983), the EDUCA Prize (Costa Rica, 1995), the Renacimiento Prize (Spain, 2000), the Fray Luis de León Prize (Spain, 2005) and the Leonor Prize (Spain, 2006). He is an Associate Professor of Spanish at Kenyon College.
Barbara Pogacnik, from Slovenia, is a translator, essayist, literary critic and poet.Her second poetry collection "V mnoici izgubljeni papir" (Sheets of Paper Lost in the Crowd) was published in 2008 and selected poems have been translated into several languages. She is currently a Translators' House Wales / HALMA writer-in-residence at Ty Newydd.
