Access to Masters (ATM) drop in sessions for new applicants

Drop in sessions (just come along) with be available to applicants and potential applicants wishing to seek further information or guidance about ATM funded Masters opportunities for 2013/4.    

Typical areas for discussion:

How does the funding work?

Am I eligible for ATM funding?

How do I apply?

Is my application form OK? (bring your completed form)

What happens when?

How will you hear from us and when?

Scholarship budget – how does that work? How much will I receive?

If I am awarded funding when will I hear and what do I need to do next?

Any other queries.

Please note that these are drop-in sessions and will run on a first come first served basis. We are happy to see you individually or as a group (let us know your preference on the day).   We will limit time to 15 minutes per student / group so as to give everyone a chance to speak to us.  Should you require more detail we will follow up by e-mail or telephone. The EROS Café/ Café Terrace is situated near the drop in session venue, should anyone wish to get a drink while they are waiting to be seen.

Let’s talk about Upland Farming

The Advanced Training Partnership (ATP) invites you to join us for a free seminar entitled: Let’s talk about Upland Farming

Dr Tim Pagella, Bangor University, will present practical examples of how farmers can optimise their farm efficiency and improve farm resilience to factors such as extreme weather and market volatility. Examples include:

-  providing windbreaks for animal shelter ;

-  reducing soil erosion;

-  enhancing water quality;

-  generating income from wood products;

-  enhancing biodiversity and recreational opportunities.

This seminar represents a taster for the ‘Upland Farming Systems’ Distance Learning course offered by the ATP, to commence on June 17.  (Generous bursaries are available for participants.)  For more information please visit our web page http://www.atp-pasture.org.uk/

IT Employability Expo

Software Alliance Wales, together with Technocamps and the Schools of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at Bangor University are organising an IT Employability EXPO at the University’s Neuadd Reichel, on Ffriddoedd Road, Bangor.

The exhibition will be a chance for graduates from the University to demonstrate the work they've been doing for their final year projects and for IT businesses to exhibit and try to recruit the best of this year’s talent. The event which runs between 10.00 am -   5.00 pm  is open to all and refreshments will be provided.

Bangor ‘Visions’ Postgraduate Conference

Paradise Lost? The World in 2050

Date: 8-9 June 2013

Time: 8th (9:00-17:00), 9th (9:30-15:30)

This interdisciplinary conference will bring together students from a variety of disciplines, all considering what their research can tell us about our collective future. The event is open to everyone, and we hope to enable a fruitful discussion of what the world of 2050 has in store for us all. As well as a range of doctoral researchers, the conference will feature prominent, international speakers from areas such as Environmental Sciences, Futurology, Digital Media, and Welsh Linguistics. 

This will be the first international, postgraduate-led conference to be held in Bangor. It will also be the first instalment of Bangor ‘Visions’ – a new initiative, organised by Bangor University’s Postgraduate Students’ Forum (PGSF). Bangor ‘Visions’ focuses on new ways of seeing our research, our city, and the broader contexts we occupy.
