Bangor University has appointed Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research & Enterprise. She will succeed Professor John Farrar who retired earlier this year.
Professor Lappin-Scott is currently Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at the University of Exeter.
A graduate of Warwick University, she was appointed Professor in Environmental Microbiology at Exeter in 1999. She is a Fellow of the American Academy for Microbiology and President of the International Society for Microbial Ecology
Vice-Chancellor Professor Merfyn Jones said: "I'm delighted to announce Professor Lappin-Scott's appointment. Research is central to Bangor University's mission and this appointment will strengthen and take to the next level our capability and performance in research and enterprise activity."
Professor Lappin-Scott will start at Bangor on 1 January, 2009.
