Why Study Sport and Exercise Sciences?

Within the area of Sport and Exercise Sciences we draw on over 40 years of experience in delivering related undergraduate degree programmes and were one of the first Sport and Exercise Science Schools to offer a Master's programme.  We pride ourselves on offering a real transformational journey during your studies.  You'll have many exciting ‘hands on’ experiences in the laboratory or the sport, health, exercise and coaching environment. Our research-led curriculum, covers the core Sport and Exercise Science topics of physiology, psychology, exercise health and medicine, biomechanics, and effective coaching, and will give you the knowledge and skills required for both a practical or research career in the expanding sport, health, exercise, and adventure markets.

Our sports science degree programmes aim to maximise your employability by enabling you to undertake practical work alongside theoretical work, via hands-on laboratory practicals, a research project/dissertation and through demonstrations, tutorials and research. Through our extensive links with sporting organisations, the NHS, and the National Exercise Referral Scheme, we are able to offer you short mentored work placement opportunities alongside your degree programmes.
