  • Your work will contribute towards your degree

At Bangor, there’s a chance to study abroad as a part of your degree or research programme. Spending up to a year abroad does not necessary mean that you add an extra year to your degree - a year abroad at one of our partner institutions is considered equivalent to a year at Bangor University.

European Exchanges

Image of student in a field surrounded by mountainsMost exchanges to Europe take place under the Socrates/Erasmus programme. We have agreements with 95 universities in 20 countries. A grant is given to participating eligible students to help with travel and living costs.

Both undergraduates and postgraduates can apply for this exchange programme and extra funding is available for those who wish to pursue language courses prior to their exchange.

U.S. and Canadian Exchanges

The exchanges to North America are for either 1 semester (term) or 1 academic year.

Undergraduate students interested in going to North America are required to go during their second year. Unfortunately, North American exchanges are not available for Marine Biology students in the School of Ocean Sciences or postgraduate students from any faculty.
