Safe Handling in Work for Assessors
Manual Handling Assessors are trained to identify and consider manual handling tasks that may require additional or special controls. It also enables Assessors to make recommendations about what actions and controls should be put in place.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer courses to non-Bangor University staff.
Who should participate?
This training is suitable for individuals who Supervise or are responsible for staff who undertake lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling activities in the course of their day to move objects around.
The aim of the workshop
To allow the individual to undertake the role of Manual Handling Assessor for their areas with the aim of to reducing the risks from manual handling activities.

• To understand how the back works and what we need to do to maintain a fit and healthy back for life
• To identify simple lifting techniques that can be used to prevent back damage
• To identify what lifting and carrying is reasonable to undertake

Note: this course includes the content of the DSE computer user course
This course may be followed up by a practical site visit to assist with assessment in own areas
Learning Methods
Delivery is through presentation, demonstration and practical activities.
Assessment / Certification
This course is not assessed. Certificate is for attendance only.
