Bangor University graduate, Danny Boyle directed the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony. Danny Boyle graduated from Bangor University in 1978 with a degree in English and Drama. His most successful project to date has been ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ in 2008, which won 8 Oscars including Best Director. Other movies directed by Danny Boyle include ‘127 hours’, ‘The Beach’ and ‘A Life Less Ordinary’.
Bangor University graduate, Sir Robert Geoffrey Edwards, CBE, FRS was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the development of in vitro fertilization. Sir Robert Geoffrey Edwards along with surgeon Patrick Steptoe successfully pioneered conception through IVF. He graduated from Bangor University in 1951 with a degree in Biology.
Bangor University graduate, Frances Barber is an Olivier Award-nominated British actress with a long and distinguished stage career, who has also appeared in numerous television productions. Frances Barber graduated from Bangor University with a degree in Drama in 1978.
Bangor University graduate, Paul Berenger was the Prime Minister of Mauritius from 2003-2005. He graduated from Bangor University with a degree in Philosophy and French in 1969.
