Osian Rees is currently undertaking doctoral research into the work of the Children's Commissioner for Wales. He will then develop his work to include a wider examination of national human rights institutions, in particular those concerned with children and young people, in a comparative context. In addition, Osian Rees is currently involved with research for the North Wales Family Justice Council, in particular the impact of devolution on family law in Wales.
