Bangor's Inter-colleges Eisteddfod : 3 March 2007

Image of Rhodri Llyr EvansCongratulations to 3rd year student Lowri Evans for organising the successful Inter-colleges Eisteddfod held in Bangor at the beginning of March.  The highlights of the weekend included awarding the Crown to Rhodri Llŷr Evans – another Bangor student in his 3rd year who also came 2nd in the Drama Medal competition – and awarding the Welsh Learners Medal to Scott Rowley who's studying Welsh and French and currently spending this semester in France. On the other hand, a major disappointment was that a Cardiff student won the Comic Poetry Competition (Englyn Doniol) with two Bangor students coming in at 2nd and 3rd - even though the topic was 'Upper Bangor'!

Also, big congratulations to all of the erudite students in their success in the creative writing competitions, among them:

Image of Gwenan EvansGwennan Evans: 2nd for the Chair; 3rd for the Drama Medal; 2nd in the Englyn; 2nd in the Comic Englyn; 1st and 3rd in the limerick; 2nd in the Parody; 1st and 3rd in micro-fiction; 1st and 2nd in the Sentence and 2nd in the Scriptwriting competition.

Lowri Evans: 1st in the Parody and 3rd in the Comic Englyn.

Ffion Humphries: 2nd in the Soliloquy and 3rd in the Parody.

Gwawr Jones: 3rd in the Scriptwriting competition.

Bethan Williams: 1st on the Soliloquy and 3rd in translating from English into Welsh.
