Congratulations to Dr Jerry Hunter!

Congratulations are extended to Dr Jerry Hunter on being promoted to a Readership and also on the publication of his latest book.

His book Image of Dr Jerry Hunter on the night of the launchwas launched on Wednesday, 10 October, in a meeting organised at Bangor University.

I Ddeffro Ysbryd y Wlad: Robert Everett a'r Ymgyrch yn erbyn Caethwasanaeth Americanaidd (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch: £9.95) records the neglected story of the Congregationalist minister of Capel Lôn Swan, Denbigh who later became a leading abolitionist in the campaign against slavery in nineteenth-century America.

Last year, a documentary series on S4C, America Gaeth a’r Cymry (Cwmni Da), was presented and researched by Jerry Hunter.

2007 has proved a prolific year for Jerry Hunter, this current title being published a few months following the publication of Sons of Arthur, Children of Lincoln: Welsh writing from the American Civil War (University of Wales Press).

The launch meeting was organised by Myrddin ap Dafydd, proprietor of Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, and was chaired by Professor Densil Morgan, Head of Bangor University’s College of Arts and Humanities.  During the evening the poet Iwan Llwyd presented a selection of his poems inspired by his visits to the United States.
