21 May 2007: Manon Enjoys an Oustanding Eisteddfod!
Manon Wyn Williams, a second year student in the School of Welsh, University if Wales, Bangor recently experienced a very memorable eisteddfod!
At the end of April, she was awarded the Drama Medal in the competition for those under 26 in the Eisteddfod Môn Drama Festival held in Theatr Fach, Llangefni.
And this weekend, she picked up two other substantial prizes: she was awarded first – and second – place in the Youth Medal competition in the literature section of Eisteddfod Môn and also the Prose Medal in the open competition for a collection of three separate literary items written in different forms and responding to a common theme.
Having been brought up in Rhosmeirch and an ex-pupil of Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni, winning on her home ground was an extra source of satisfaction for Manon. Eisteddfod Môn was this year celebrating its centenary and was held on the Anglesey Agricultural Show Ground near Bodffordd.
Manon has been following modules in script writing and creative writing offered by Dr William Lewis and Professor John Rowlands in the School of Welsh and all the staff and students join together to congratulate her on her outstanding achievement!
