May 2007: Three New Novels

Image of Sonia Edwards' bookFormer students of Bangor University’s School of Welsh have recently published three brand new novels.  And as it happens, all three of the novels – penned by national winners – are aimed at young readers.

Fy Hanes I: Yr Arwisgo is written by the prolific author from Anglesey, Sonia Edwards.  Sonia won the Prose Medal in the 1999 National Eisteddfod with a series of short stories entitled Rhwng Noson Wen a Phlygain.

Image showing the cover of Sian Eirian Rees Davies' bookCysgodion y Coed is written by Siân Eirian Rees Davies.  Siân was awarded the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize in the 2005 National Eisteddfod for her novel I Fyd Sy Well.  She has recently been busy as Manager of Canolfan Cae’r Gors, the Kate Roberts Heritage Centre which will be opened officially in May 2007.

Image of the book GelertAnd Gelert is written by Gwen Pritchard Jones.  Gwen was awarded the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize in the 2006 National Eisteddfod for her novel Dygwyl Eneidau which is currently on the long list of the 2007 Book of the Year.
