Image of school pupils at the one day conference250 students studying for their AS/A2 in Welsh language and literature recently attended a highly successful one-day conference organised by the School of Welsh, University of Wales, Bangor. They came from schools and colleges from all parts of north Wales.

Academic staff provided talks on all aspects of their Welsh syllabus. Also taking part was Menna Baines, a former student of the School who is a leading authority on Caradog Prichard. Last year she published her critically acclaimed study of the life and works of the Bethesda-born author, Yng Ngolau’r Lleuad, and she gave a talk on his Image of a presentation at the conferencegroundbreaking novel Un Nos Ola Leuad.

“We are delighted with the response to this conference,” said Professor Gerwyn Wiliams, Head of  Welsh.  “All the lectures were designed in order to ensure relevance to the texts being studied by the students and from the positive feedback we received, those that attended had a valuable and enjoyable experience.”
