A Crown and a Medal for Bangor Welsh Students – Again!

Warm congratulations to Catrin Haf Jones on winning the Crown in the Urdd National Eisteddfod and to Manon Wyn Williams on winning the Drama Medal!

This is the second year in succession for a student following the MA in Creative Writing in the School of Welsh to win the Crown, the main prize for writing creative prose – the prize was won last year by Lleucu Hughes who is currently working for the weekly newspaper Y Cymro.

This is also the second time for Manon Wyn Williams, who is also currently studying for a MA in Creative Writing in the School of Welsh, to win the Drama Medal: she won the same award in 2007, and also won the prestigious Bryn Terfel Scholarship as an actress the same year.

Guto Dafydd, a second-year undergraduate in the School of Welsh, was awarded the second prize in the Drama Medal competition. And the second place in the Crown competition was awarded to Gwennan Evans who currently works for BBC Cymru Wales having gradutated in Welsh with Creative Writing in 2008, while the third place went to Gwawr Eleri Jones who graduated last year in Bangor in Welsh and Music.

Warm congratulations also to all member of Aelwyd John Morris-Jones following their success in various stage competitions on the final Saturday of the 2010 Urdd National Eisteddfod!
