Warranty & Insurance
Your equipment is covered with a warranty agreement and probably insurance too*. Details of your warranty and insurance agreements are in your student pack.
However you are expected to take care of your equipment as certain circumstances will invalidate your insurance and certain components are classed as consumables and are not covered by the warranty.

We have arrangements in place for you to be provided with a policy that includes the following required features, and that only has the following permitted exclusions:

Remember to report theft of equipment to the police – the insurance company will need the Crime Reference Number.
* Insurance – Check your study needs assessment report. Lately DSAkit has been arranging insurance agreements, however in the past an allowance for insurance was included in the report but it was your responsibility to arrange the policy. We strongly recommend you insure your equipment and students have, in the past, used household policies, companies such as Nevett & Taylor / CompuCover or obtained advice from the Students Union or Student Services.

Warranty
You are covered for:
- Faulty internal components
It does not cover:
- Wear and tear
- Damage to keyboard
- Damage to screen
- Damage to motherboard caused by damage to powerjack
- Consumables eg battery, power packs/cables
- Damage caused by liquids
- Damage caused by virus
- Software problems
- Laptop bags – they are not waterproof
Warranty from Toshiba - All warranties that come with notebook equipment will be registered under the University’s address. Therefore please supply your current address while making a support call. You will need to quote the serial number of your equipment to Toshiba Support Line for them to find the relevant information.
Warranty from Stone - All warranties that come with desktop equipment will be registered under the University’s address. Therefore please supply your current address while making a support call. You will need to quote the serial number of your equipment to Stone Support Line for them to find the relevant information.
