The Student Housing Office cannot vouch for the condition of the
properties on our books, or give a guarantee that the details supplied
to us by the owners are entirely correct, as we do not personally inspect
the premises. But if you have serious complaints, please call in and tell
us about your difficulties and fill in a report form. We will use this
information in discussions with the owners, and give you appropriate information
and advice.
However, as appliances
may fall into disrepair during the year, or a new appliance may be installed
after the current gas safety certificate has been issued, we advise all tenants to follow the advice on gas safety outlined in
the Student Guide to Private Accommodation and available from the Student
Housing Office or the Students Union Advice Centre.
Always ask to see the owner's Gas Safety Certificate for all gas appliances. Contact the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) if your landlord does not, on request, provide you with a copy of the certificate. For further information visit the following websites:
