Welsh for Adults

Cwrs Pellach Trwy’r Post

Intermediate Welsh Correspondence Course

If you have already learnt some Welsh but cannot attend classes at the moment, you can follow the Pellach course by correspondence.  During the course, you will be given many exercises to improve your grasp of the main language patterns and you will also be set some listening, reading and writing tasks.  You will have to converse with Welsh speakers or attend a class to practise your speaking skills, but the postal course can help you to improve the general standard of your Welsh.

You can determine how quickly or slowly you wish to work.  Your personal tutor will send you Units 1 and 2 initially.  Once you have completed Unit 1, you will send it in to be marked and start work on Unit 2 in the meantime. The tutor will send you feedback on your work on Unit 1 and return it to you with a copy of Unit 3.  You will therefore always have one unit in hand.  There are 20 units in the complete course.

You can take the Intermediate Use of Welsh examination (equivalent to GCSE) at the end of this course.

Cwrs Meistroli Trwy’r Post

Advanced Welsh Correspondence Course

If you have been learning Welsh for several years and can now speak quite confidently but cannot attend classes at the moment, you can follow the Meistroli course by correspondence.  During the course, you will be given many exercises to broaden your grasp of oral and written language patterns, grammatical rule, vocabulary and idioms. You will also be set some listening, reading and writing tasks, and be introduced to various aspects of Welsh culture.  You will have to converse with Welsh speakers or attend a class to practise your speaking skills, but the postal course can help you to improve the general standard of your Welsh.
