About This Course
This three day specialist training is for those interested in bringing mindfulness into a one to one context. Participants will engage in an experiential learning process, developing relational skills and understanding, while considering implementation in their particular setting. The training will be of greatest benefit to those already working within a one-to-one context such as therapy, coaching, teaching, chaplaincy, healthcare, social work, and other carer work.
Who is this course suitable for?
This short course is suitable for both experienced mindfulness-based teachers as an opportunity to refresh their personal and teaching practice, and newer teachers who are in the earlier stages of developing teaching skills.
The course will be of particular interest to those who:
- are interested in exploring mindfulness in the context of their professional lives and work one to one, such as coaches, therapists, yoga teachers, physiotherapists, chaplains, nurses, complementary therapists, teachers, carers, community health workers, etc.
- have previously trained to teach a mindfulness-based program curriculum and want to learn how to deliver it within a one-to-one context.
- are mindfulness teachers who want to deepen into the relational aspect of mindfulness practice
Why study this course?
The aim of this short course will be to support the learner to:
- Learn, and practice, specific relational mindfulness skills
- Experience the ways these skills can be used within a one-to-one context
- Explore the various ways mindfulness can be implemented within a one-to-one context
- Learn ways to tailor the delivery of mindfulness in one-to-one settings.
- Understand specific considerations for one-to-one work, including implications for guiding practice, establishing a learning container in which mindfulness can be safely and effectively explored, and exploring specific learning themes relevant to mindfulness.
How long does this course take to complete?
This short course is delivered online over three days on the following dates:
4-6 January, 2026
There will also be a one hour orientation session and a 1.5 hour follow up session. Times for these will be confirmed.
Tutor
Dr Sophie Sansom
Sophie is co-director of the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University. As a senior lecturer Sophie teaches on the master's program and is passionate about social and environmental initiatives having recently co-developed the Inner Change Works (ICW) programme. Founder of SiTT (Support for Integrity in Teaching and Training) Sophie has established frameworks for community development and professional standards in the field. Having collaboratively developed a pioneering approach for the recognition of new MBP curricula Sophie chairs the International Panel of Acknowledgement (IPA) hosted by the European Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches (EAMBA). Leading on the scholarship and development of the Mindfulness-based Interventions -Teaching Assessment Criteria Sophie’s academic work explores ways of supporting pedagogical innovation and accessibility while upholding quality and integrity; a key focus in her role as Chair of the British Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches (BAMBA).
Course Cost
The fee for January 2026 will be £456.00 (including VAT).
Entry Requirements
Applicants must fulfil the following criteria to be considered eligible for this course:
- Participants need to have been meditating regularly for at least six months using practices that are compatible with mindfulness-based approaches.
- Participation in an eight-week mindfulness-based program would be of benefit and is a requirement for anyone teaching a mindfulness-based program curriculum.
- Attendance at a mindfulness-based Essentials training or equivalent
Nb. This training is not curriculum based. If you want to teach Mindfulness-based Program curricula as part of this approach, you will also need to complete the relevant Curriculum Specialist (such as MBSR, MBCT).
Participants must commit to the entire online training. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, we are unable to negotiate late arrivals or early leaving. If this is not possible, please contact us to discuss before submitting an application.
