Environment Centre for Wales
The innovative centre that is formed by a partnership Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and Bangor University brings together 60 environmental scientists from the University and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, whose combined scientific knowledge and experience cut across traditional academic boundaries. This new way of working makes significant contributions to solutions for environmental problems.
The centre is housed in a new purpose-built environmentally friendly building. The building itself demonstrates many aspects of environmental and sustainable construction, including use of locally sourced materials such as Welsh oak and slate.
The Remote Instruction of Language and Literacy (RILL)
The project, led by Bangor University, provides 7-11-year-olds with an intensive and interactive ten-week language and literacy programme in Welsh or English, either in or out of the classroom.
Launched following the introduction of restrictions in April 2020 to stop the spread of Coronavirus, RILL will be expanded to help improve the literacy skills of learners in Wales. This will include rolling the project out to more schools, expanding the project in Welsh and providing extra lessons for children and parents to learn together at home.
NUCLEAR FUTURES INSTITUTE (NFI)
Bangor University is developing a world leading capability in nuclear science and engineering, the focal point of which is the Nuclear Futures Institute. This will establish North Wales as a global centre, delivering international partnerships and opportunities from a rich mix of existing and new talent in support of the local and regional economy.
