Joining in with clubs, societies and volunteering is a great way for you to try new things and meet new people. Our Students’ Union has over 150 different ones that you can join for free, so you can sign-up for as many as you like.
During Welcome Week, you’ll be able to see what’s on offer at Serendipity Fair. All our clubs, societies and volunteering projects will be under one roof so you can stop by their stalls to grab information and sign-up for taster sessions.
There's something for everyone
Sport Clubs
Whatever sport you’re interested in, there’s a club for it at Bangor. From traditional sports such as rugby, netball, football and tennis to outdoor activities like surfing, snowsports, canoeing and windsurfing. You can also try your hand at something different like underwater hockey, quidditch and ultimate frisbee.
Many of our sports clubs compete in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) events, with regular fixtures against other universities taking place. One of the highlights of the year is Varsity, a weekend of sporting competition between Bangor University and Aberystwyth University.

Societies
Our Students’ Union societies bring like-minded people together. There are course related societies, such as Langsoc, Zoosoc and Psych Soc; societies that celebrate nationalities and cultures and societies for students with the same interests, such as drama, music, film, photography.
Our list of societies is incredibly varied, but if you want to start your own, that's possible too.
Volunteering
During your free time, you can join in with volunteering projects through Student Volunteering Bangor. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community, whilst gaining valuable skills.
