Overview
I am a PhD student as part of the NERC RED-ALERT CDT investigating the role of mobile genetic elements in the persistance and dissemination of antimicrobial and metal resistences in freshwater prokeryotic communities.
My research focuses on the environmental mobilome of the Living lab, the Conwy Catchment. Of particular interest is the distribution, co-occurance and potential co-localisation of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs) and (HMRGs) across planktonic and sedimental microbiomes in waters affected by heavy-metal, wastewaters, and other anthropogenic influences.
