Overview

Since I started to teach as a language teacher in Higher Education (Northwest University, Xi’an, China) in 1999, my goal has been to help students to develop their linguistic, intellectual, practical, creative thinking and to encourage their personal development. In 2002, I moved to Beijing after my first MA degree in Literature. I taught undergraduates and postgraduates EFL and CFL in North China University of Technology. In 2004, I went to London to read my second MA degree in Education and later taught Chinese in different institutions in the UK for years. Between 2009 to 2011, I worked in Confucius Institute Headquarters & Hanban (Office of Chinese Language Council International, Ministry of Education, China) as a senior project officer. In 2014, I did my M.Phil. in Chinese Studies, University of Central Lancashire and later a PhD in Chinese Studies in Durham University. Before I joined Bangor University, I used to teach in Southampton University and other institutions in the UK and China. My taught students’ language level ranges from Chinese beginners to intermediate and advanced. In addition, I also teach degree modules on Chinese Studies (including Chinese culture, society, politics and literature); and postgraduate students (including PhD students) in the area of Chinese Studies and Translation Studies.
