Teaching and Supervision

Awel is the Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Flexible Learning and Outreach, and is currently managing the University's Digital Learning Project. She is also a senior lecturer in psychology at the School of Human and Behavioural Sciences, and as such is involved in many modules across all three years. She is currently the Module Organizer on two modules that are delivered across the College of Human Sciences (Introduction to Research, and Developing Research Skills). Awel is also the module organiser of a third year module that focuses on the cross disciplinary topic of Neuroaesthetics, and is the lead for the psychology dissertation modules.

Awel currently supervises undergraduate research projects investigating the broad topics of bilingualism, language use, language learning, and neuroaesthetics. 

Research Interests

Awel’s research mainly focuses on bilingualism. She is particularly interested in the way a bilingual’s languages interact, and uses a variety of research methods (including eyetracking and ERPs) in her research. Awel is also interested in the perception and appreciation of music and poetry. 

Postgraduate Project Opportunities

I am willing to supervise students in the following areas: -Bilingualism -Language co-activation -Neuroaesthetics -Art-based interventions I am able to supervise students using the following methodology: -ERPs -Eyetracking -Behavioural measures
